I know I haven’t written in a while & this year, I resolve to write more posts & more often! I also wanted to give vlogging a try. So I created a video of me talking about straight people appropriating Lesbian culture, trying to force us to change our language, & how Lesbians should band together, stand up, & say “no more!”

Oh, PS: I didn’t realize how loud my music was until I reviewed the video, but I am assured that I can still be heard & that it isn’t too distracting. I will make sure to vlog in silence next time. 😉

Hey BigBooButch – props for this video, you make a really important point about radfems position on the sex binary and how it’s (deliberately?) misunderstood to mean that radfems support biological determinism. Funnily enough, I watched your vid just after a conversation about exactly that on a thread on LGBT History Month – Julie Bindel facebookpage.
This was the original comment and my response, which I hope you find useful.

This is a fundamental error in some people’s, understanding of the radfem position.
It confuses “Biology (as in physical anatomy) exists” with “Biology is destiny”
Two different things.
Radfems position is that being a woman, as distinct from a man, means that you are a human whose body produces eggs as opposed to sperm, and that any and all other human characteristics, attitudes, behaviours, traits, role in life, will depend on you as an individual, (as well as influencing factors in your environment.) Your female biology is *not* your destiny, but it is part of your anatomy, to wit, the part that defines you as female – in the same way that the colour of your eyes is not your destiny, but it does exist, and is what defines you as blue eyed, brown eyed, whatever; if I say that I’m a blue eyed person, and that the thing that defines me as blue eyed is the colour of my eyes, I have simply acknowledged and named a physical feature – I haven’t reduced myself to that feature, or suggested that it represents my destiny. The same goes for recognising and naming female anatomy. The word in English for a human with female anatomy is “woman” – “woman” is analogous to “blue eyed human” if we were categorising people by eye colour rather than sex.
It’s the trans narrative that associates being a woman with particular personal traits, or feelings at least.
